Welcome to Bass Lake Festival, Indiana
Every year, we all look forward to the BIG WEEKEND at the end of July; our very own Bass Lake Festival! This year's festival is quickly coming together with a lot of people getting involved. Sponsors continue to take on many of our traditional events, and we look forward to even more. If you have an idea for an event, would like to sponsor an event, or just volunteer a few hours, please let us know!
The festival was officially formed in the 70's, but many of the events were formed long before then. This is one of many Bass Lake tales where many of the details are known by some of our long time residents and visitors. Dig for more details on this on some of those late summer night sitting around the fire!
The Bass Lake Festival is a long tradition that solely relies on monies generated from fundraisers, corporate sponsors and community support!! Your financial support allows us to offer a festival full of events for all ages. Therefore, we need your help and support to keep this tradition going! If you are interested in donating, go to our CONTACT US page for our address.

2018 Grand Marshal
Rick Anderson’s relationship with Bass Lake began in 1952 when his family made a visit to our then, Indiana Bass Lake State Beach. For the next two summer seasons his family summered there from July 4th until Labor Day; in 1955, the family relocated to Rannells Park. Rick grew up in the lake-oriented family atmosphere of Rannells for many summers thereafter. Interactive relationships and water activity filled the days and nights of summer. After graduation from Valparaiso University with an Electrical Engineering Degree and after obtaining much needed employment, Rick purchased his own trailer in Rannells Park. Not long after, he married Jane and then along came daughter Beth. Park life was great still focusing on relationships, partying, swimming, water sports and night life. In 1994, things changed while pretty much remaining unchanged. He and Jane bought lake property, designed and built a home while keeping Rannells as base camp where his parents still had a trailer. In 2000 he and Jane sold their Valparaiso home and Bass Lake became “permanent residence”. Following his career in heavy industry, as a Licensed Indiana Professional Engineer, he retired in 2006. Rick will confirm that experience gained from his working career, activities like Commodore of the Oppo Boat & Ski Club and helping with things like ski tournaments provided many skills that have proved helpful with his current activities. For the past four years, Rick has been President of the Bass Lake Property Owners Association as well as a member of the California Township Advisory Board. He readily admits this is only possible because of the effort and tolerance of Jane. Jane “keeps the household together” which allows Rick time for boating, pulling grandkids tubing, visiting friends, occasional skiing and stuff like that. To this day, you can still hear Jane say, “I don’t know where his is”.
